Peanut disease advisory information with update

This is a slight update to the advisory email from July 1 in case anyone missed it due to the holiday weekend:

Peanut disease advisory emails began on July 1. Advisories are delivered directly from the State Climate Office of North Carolina.  Check your promotions and spam folders if you do not receive an advisory.

Begin leaf sprays NO LATER THAN R3 (about 50 DAP) or July 10, whichever comes first, regardless of advisory

As indicated by today's advisory, conditions are generally favorable for leaf spot across the state. This includes areas that have not received significant rain recently.

However, note that the last effective spray date was in September 2021 for a couple of locations. This means that NO sprays have been advised for that location so far this year. An example is shown for Rocky Mount below:

Information on how to use the peanut leaf spot advisory is attached and is posted at the NC State Peanut Portal https://peanut.ces.ncsu.edu

Be sure to check the Records count at the bottom of the advisory output. The records count indicates whether any data are missing from the advisory.  The advisory may not be reliable if there are several missing records.

You are also receiving Sclerotinia blight advisories. Start checking Sclerotinia advisories when rows are within 6 inches of touching. Risk of Sclerotinia blight is low until then.

Email barbara_shew@ncsu.edu if you have questions about advisories, want to report problems, or if you want to be added or removed from the advisory mailing list.
